    How ShopStart works

ShopStart is a start page for running a business, not a general web directory. It covers the jobs a small-business owner actually does: getting paid, keeping books, paying people, filing taxes, selling online, marketing, shipping and finding help. Each of the 16 categories has its own page with every link described in plain English, tips on how to choose, and answers to common questions.

Government sites are where owners lose the most time, so the Taxes & Government and Learning & Grants sections link straight to the official IRS, SBA, Treasury and state pages, such as the free EIN application, quarterly estimated taxes and free SBA-backed mentoring.

Every link points to the provider's official website and is checked automatically for a working response before each update; the last full check was on November 1, 2026. Listings are chosen by Linda Morales, a small-business advisor in Phoenix. Nobody pays to be listed and we do not use affiliate links. Read how we pick links.

To make ShopStart your browser's home page, see set ShopStart as your homepage. Your pinned tiles live only in your browser; you can export your board as a file and import it on another device.
